Shanghai is well known for its development and urbanization, but it still has fragmented areas. Although the parts of the city shown here were constructed during different historical periods for various occasions, they share a similar fate nowadays: poor infrastructure, slum-like shelters, and concentrated poverty. Conflict between residents and developers is constant in these neighborhoods.
