Mural in Koktokay

Youth Road (Qingnian lu), in Koktokay, leads from the Koktokay Workers’ Club (shown in image 14) to the Number Three Ore Vein. At dusk, the road, which is also known as the “Old Wooden Bridge Traditional Walking Street,” comes to life as a night market for tourists staying the night in Koktokay before heading up the road to Koktokay’s National Geological Park. With old Soviet buildings (now converted into a market and apartments) on both sides of the street, city leaders are trying to capitalize on its history through the preservation of old architecture and monuments. This is one of three murals on shipping containers that store tables, chairs, and equipment. The murals are painted to commemorate the Sino-Soviet relationship in Koktokay.
