"Matryoshka" in Burqin

The peeling rear wall of the former Soviet consulate at Burqin, just opposite the “Walking Street,” reveals yet more objects displaying a self-proclaimed “Russian style” intended to attract the attention of Chinese tourists. These three oversized matryoshka, or Russian nesting dolls, casually propped against the old consulate, feature images of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, and a figure in the more traditional matryoshka style.
