“Big oboo” are not only bigger and more sophisticated in terms of their shape; they also symbolize a political hierarchy. The Bogda Uul Oboo is one of Hulun Buir’s most famous “big oboo.” It was worshipped for the first time in 1740 by the four banners of the New Barga Right Banner. From 1850 onward, it has been worshipped by the eight banners of the New Barga Right Banner and the New Barga Left Banner.[1]
