"Oboo" Sacred Monuments in Hulun Buir: Their Narratives and Contemporary Worship

Wrestling is the most popular of the “three manly games.” Held on an open grassy field, the competition begins with an imitation performed by the wrestlers when they enter the arena. The movement is supposed to imitate the strength of a lion or tiger. A wrestler loses if his knee, elbow, or torso touches the ground. In Hulun Buir, wrestlers compete in leather jackets (jodog) that offer the adversaries a grip.
